Vancouver Island Symphony Youth & Education Programs 2010-2011Season:
The Vancouver Island Symphony will launch a one year pilot project in schools during the 2010-2011 season. Ensembles from the Vancouver Island Symphony will go out and perform in schools instead of schools coming to the Theatre. The Vancouver Island Symphony has listened to the schools on the island about the lack of funds available for various field trips and will invest $35,000 back into the schools to offer students an opportunity to hear a section of the orchestra at their school. The VIS will pay 50% of the musician's fee and the travel expenses for the musicians to perform in schools.
There will be a String, Woodwind, Brass and Percussion ensemble available for schools to have perform for their students.
This program is open to schools from Chemainus through to Campbell River on Vancouvr Island.
Donations are gratefully received in support of this program from indiviuduals, service clubs and corporations.
